PHOTOS
Each year we have school photos, which provide a lasting record of your child’s early years, with their friends and special carers from the centre.
During the year we also offer the opportunity for families to have professional photos taken, which can involve everyone, grandparents and extended family.
SCHOOL READINESS
The centre conducts a school readiness program which involves visits to a local school, in conjunction with exposing the children to activities which are similar to those in Kindergarten. The children are encouraged to complete prewriting and prereading activities to prepare them for the structure of school. Reports are provided to parents regarding readiness for school, to assist in the decision of whether or not to begin school.
We also hold a School Preparation Evening, where representatives from the local schools are invited, along with parents, to attend, and provide information about enrolment, and what schools are expecting from children entering Kindergarten.
INFORMATION EVENINGS
During the year we hold family information nights, such as Welcome to our Centre, School Preparation, Behaviour Management and the Development of Speech.
These are a great way to receive information on topics of interest, and to meet other families that attend the centre. Parents are invited to suggest topics that interest them, which we will address wherever possible. If information evenings cannot be arranged, staff will endeavour to obtain relevant information, which may be of assistance. e.
SPECIAL DAYS
A variety of shows are organised for the children. These may include The Reptile Man, Henny Penny Hatcheries (baby chickens), and Street Sense (a road safety show).
Individual rooms also organise fun days such as Crazy Hair or Hat days, dress up days, and colour days.
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
The centre encourages family involvement in all activities, and welcomes family members to join us during the day, and to contribute to the children’s daily activities. It may be as simple as reading a book, helping to prepare craft materials, playing a musical instrument, or assisting a small group in an activity.
We also hold social events outside centre hours, to enable families and staff to meet in a more relaxed environment. These family events include a mid year disco, and the annual Christmas parties.
